The entertainment guide to the rest of summer: books & shows I'm hyped for.
Look, I know you’re probably thinking like girl. What? This isn’t hard hitting writing, what are you doing? Hear me out, when I came back to content creation I said I was going to only do it if it was a fun creative outlet for me. I used to put so much pressure on myself to create and make content that others would want to read. I lost my own voice along the way. So, I’m back and my voice wants to share with you all that there are some good books and shows down the pipeline and you need to get them pre-ordered or on hold at the library and thank me later.
This is probably the one I’m most excited about, the newest title from Jo Piazza. She’s the podcast host of Under the Influence and she has written a murder mystery about a trad wife influencer. I haven’t read it yet, my pre-ordered copy will arrive today and I cannot wait.
The Hunting Wives— So, I thought this was a new show entirely, but apparently it’s just new to Netflix. I read this book several years ago and LOVED it’s suspenseful with a southern twang. Then, I noticed over the weekend there’s a show coming to Netflix on 7/21/2025. This was a very fun book and I’m excited to see it as a show with some great actresses.
Good Hair Days: I’m currently reading an ARC of this one, the author Grace wrote a book earlier this year. (Yes, this queen has put out two books in a year.) and it was incredible, I loved it. This one is just as cute and fun, sprinkled with Dolly Parton love, and a beautiful portrayal of women building each other. I love it, reminds me a little bit of Steel Magnolias!
The Violet Hour by Victoria Benton Frank. Now, if you’re trying to place her name it’s because YES, she is the daughter of the full Southern, low country writing legend, Dorothea Benton Frank! As soon as her first novel came out, I snatched it up and read it in two days. The apple doesn’t fall from the tree honey, she’s a wonderful writer and will have you packing for a South Carolina vacation before you’ve even finished reading. This one comes out on 8/12 and I can’t wait to read it.
What are you reading or looking forward to reading the rest of 2025?
